Lingerie labeling
The lingerie ranges we sell at Satin Secrets are imported from all over the world. In South Africa we use a similar sizing system as in the UK. In order to make your shopping experience as enjoyable as possible we will always offer lingerie in South African standard sizes. Often when browsing our products you will notice the size as Eg. 34C (75C) for a bra. This means the original size of the item (and on the label) is 75C. (This is a European measurement). This bra size when converted is the equivalent of a 34C.
Differing sizes - Finding your size
Unfortunately lingerie sizes do vary from one manufacturer to the next. A 36C bra from one manufacturer might be a good fit whereas a 36C from another might simply be too tight. (Even popular department stores have this problem) The first step is obviously to start with a tape measure. Once you find a comfortable bra from one manufacturer this is the size you should order for that brand in future. Here are some tips when fitting a bra:
-
The centre of the bra should lie flat against the breastbone.
If it has an underwire, the wire shouldn't dig into any part of the breast,
-
The cups should not look baggy nor should your breasts spill over the tops or sides of the bra,
-
The main support from a bra should come from the band, not the straps. If it feels as if the straps are taking too much strain the bra is too big,
-
A bra that rides up your back is probably too big,
-
You should be able to insert two fingers under the back of the band, and one under the front centre of the bra.
